IV Drip Therapy
Are IV drips safe, and who administers them? Yes. All drips are administered by HPCSA-registered nurses in our sterile treatment room. We use pharmaceutical-grade vitamins from licensed SA pharmacies and 100% single-use needles and bags. Every client receives a pre-drip medical screening.
Who can't get an IV drip? We don't treat clients who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have kidney or heart failure, or uncontrolled hypertension/diabetes. Disclose all medications and health conditions when booking. If you're unsure, we'll refer you to your GP first.
Does it hurt, and how long does it take? Just a quick pinch when the cannula goes in, like a blood test. The drip itself is painless. Relax in our lounge for 30–45 minutes while it runs — Wi-Fi and tea are on us.
How much does it cost, and do you offer packages? Drips range from R800 to R2500. Packages save you 10% on three sessions and 15% on six sessions.
Are there side effects? The most common is small bruising at the site. Rare effects include a metallic taste, a cool feeling, or dizziness. We monitor you throughout and are trained to manage reactions.
Is your clinic licensed and are tools sterile? Yes. We're registered with the Department of Health and follow strict IPC protocols. All needles, lines, and IV bags are sealed, single-use, and opened in front of you.
Hair & Wig Services
Do you provide the hair, or must I bring my own? We can include hair at an added cost. We use Darling, X-Pression, London London fibre, and Janet Collection. Send us your colour preference when booking.
Can you work on relaxed, natural, transitioning, or 4C hair? Yes to all hair types. We specialise in 4C and natural hair protection.
Do you use products I might be allergic to? We use ISOPLUS, ORS, and Cantú, among others. Tell us about allergies when booking so we can prepare alternatives.
Do you charge extra for thick or long hair? Yes, R150–R300 extra for very thick or hip-length hair due to extra time and product. We'll confirm after seeing your hair.
Booking & Pricing
How do I book an appointment? WhatsApp us or DM @essenceofjewel_. You can book under Booksy or our website. Let us know which services you need and your preferred date and time.
Do you take walk-ins or bookings only? Bookings are required to guarantee your slot. Walk-ins are welcome if we have space, but we can't promise availability.
Do you require a deposit? Yes, a 50% deposit via EFT confirms your booking. The balance is due in cash or card on the day.
What is your cancellation policy? We require 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows forfeit the 50% deposit. Emergencies are handled case-by-case.
What is your refund policy? We do not offer full refunds. If a refund is approved, we reimburse 50% of the service fee paid. This policy is strictly non-negotiable.
How far in advance should I book? 1–2 weeks for weekdays, 3–4 weeks for weekends and month-end. December books out fast.
Aftercare
How long will my braids or twists last? 4–8 weeks with proper care. We recommend taking them out by week 5 to prevent breakage.
How do I maintain my style at night? Use a silk or satin scarf or bonnet nightly. Light mousse and oil your scalp 2–3 times a week. Avoid heavy grease on the braids.
Can I wash my braids or twists? Yes. Dilute shampoo in a spray bottle, focus on the scalp, and rinse gently. Don't scrub the braids. Air dry fully to avoid smell.
How long does the appointment take? Knotless: 4hrs. Twists: 3–5hrs. French curls: 5hrs. It depends on size and length.
Do you offer takedown services? Yes — takedown, wash and treatment from R250 upwards. Never cut close to your hair.
Salon Policies
Is the style heavy, and will it cause tension or damage? We do tension-free installs. If it hurts, tell us immediately. Weight depends on length — we'll advise what's safe for your hair.
My scalp is itchy — what can I use? Anti-itch braid spray or diluted tea tree oil. Don't scratch with nails. If it's severe, come in so we can check for an allergic reaction.
